Agile Coach, Trainer and founder of Clarus.

Biography

I am the founder and CEO of New Zealand based Agile coaching firm Clarus. I am a passionate Scrum advocate! In 2002 I moved from being a software developer to being a project manager while working for a consulting firm. Waterfall just didn’t seem right to me so I started researching and found the Agile Manifesto and then Scrum and from there I never looked back. Since then I have personally been responsible for introducing Scrum into many, many organisations throughout New Zealand.
Clarus’ purpose is closely aligned to my own – to improve the IT industry. I am very active in the Agile community and donate time to help secondary and tertiary students learn Scrum as part of the software engineering studies. I also give time and sponsorship to the Agile Professionals Network helping promote new ways of thinking about old problems :-) I sit on a number of committees including the Canterbury University Software Engineering Industry Advisory Panel.
I passionately believe in sustainable business and advocate all businesses to consider three bottom lines – profit, environmental and social.
I am a family man with four children: Jessica, Henry, George and William and live in paradise – Waiheke Island on the Huaraki Gulf, a short distance from Auckland New Zealand.
